Agricultural Society · Update April 2018

With April upon us the Agricultural Society has cranked up for the year ahead.

Each year the Society holds a 'Welcome & Farewell' dinner to recognise the contributions made by departing Committee Members and to welcome new members to the Committee.

Last year many of the Committee suffered personal, family or health issues. Absent from our dinner were outgoing members, Julie DeVita (Secretary) and Pat Harding (Publicity Officer). On behalf of the Society and Members we wish them well and hope to see them back to their best in the near future. We welcome two new Members to the Committee being Shelley Williams (Secretary) and Peter Baudinette (Committee Member) both of whom are keen and enthusiastic.

We are fortunate in that a number have people have offered to assist around show time and for that we are most thankful. However, there are never enough helpers. Anyone who can offer a bit of time and assistance is most welcome. Please contact Valerie (Chief Hall Steward) on 9274 1823 / email, or Shelley (Secretary) on 9574 6620 / email.

For those who may not be aware, this Gidgegram, in addition to the normal letter box delivery is now posted each month on the community web site at

Firstly we would like to congratulation to Alan Lockwood who was recognized for his years of service to the community on Saturday night when the original club building was named The Alan Lockwood Pavillion.

Thank you to the community for supporting the free movie night on the 10th March after it was postponed the week before due to the strong winds.

Thursday 14th March saw a very successful Speed Business Showcase and networking Sundowner held by the Mundaring Chamber of Commerce. It was great to see all the support for local businesses.

Gidgegannup Recreation along with the City of Swan, are in the early stages of commissioning artwork for the Recreation Club. We have now chosen the site for the artwork. The next stage will see consultation with the local community and the children from Gidgegannup Primary School.

As the 2018 season of footy tipping gets underway we wish all those who entered good luck and may your team picks be winners.

Remember you need to be at the recreation club on the Friday night to claim your prize when you win the Members' draw. Bar is open Fri 23rd Mar, 13th April, 27th April. We will be opening bar every Friday night during the footy season so stay tuned for the beginning of week bar openings.
