City of Swan · Session on Declaration of Bush Fire Prone Areas

Public information session 6 Nov 2013 at 6:30 pm at the Ag Society Hall regarding the Town Planning Scheme Amendment – Declaration of Bush Fire Prone Areas.

City of Swan is moving to formally adopt WAPC Planning for Bushfires as part of its town planning scheme. This will affect any new development over at least 50% of City of Swan and over nearly all of Gidgegannup. Bush Fire Threat Assessments and additional fire prevention and construction requirements will apply in these cases.

If you are subdividing, building a new home, erecting a new shed or even making an extension to your home this will almost certainly affect you.

The proposal has been a couple of years in development, has been to the WA Govt for comment/amendment and is now in the final public comment period before formal adoption by council.

The public comment period closes 14th Nov so this is likely your last chance to discuss the issue face to face with planning staff from the City of Swan.
