Agricultural Society · Gidge Show

Hi everyone!

A last reminder before the Gidge Show about getting your entries in for the show this year and remember, late entries are not accepted.

Entries in by Wednesday 16 October at Noon (except floriculture entries). Floriculture entries in by Saturday 19 October at Noon.

Gidge Show is on 26 October.

Prizes to be collected before 4PM on Show day (you must present your yellow list of entries as proof of ownership). Trophies are awarded 4.30PM in the Hall on Show day. Collect your entries after the trophies have been given out.

Should you not be able to pick up your entries when it is time, please leave your email address on the entry form, and we will be in contact as to where and when you can pick them up. Every year some entries are left behind at the closing of the Show.

Our judges always say the quality of entries is high; carry on entering. Last year we photographed a lot of them for our scrapbook, e.g. see below. Entries must be less than 12 months old.

People who are interested in entering Floriculture (Section M) please note that a misunderstanding regarding Group M6 has been corrected. The Group has now 9 classes and not 6 as written up in the Schedule. The Schedule was printed before the misunderstanding came to light, but it has been corrected on the Gidgegannup website (click link below).

City of Swan · Info Session on Declaration of Bush Fire Prone Are

Public information session 6 Nov 2013 at 6:30 pm at the Ag Society Hall regarding the Town Planning Scheme Amendment Declaration of Bush Fire Prone Areas.

City of Swan is moving to formally adopt WAPC Planning for Bushfires as part of its town planning scheme. This will affect any new development over at least 50% of City of Swan and over nearly all of Gidgegannup. Bush Fire Threat Assessments and additional fire prevention and construction requirements will apply in these cases.

If you are subdividing, building a new home, erecting a new shed or even making an extension to your home this will almost certainly affect you.

The proposal has been a couple of years in development, has been to the WA Govt for comment/amendment and is now in the final public comment period before formal adoption by council.

The public comment period closes 14th Nov so this is likely your last chance to discuss the issue face to face with planning staff from the City of Swan.
