Fire Brigades · Total Fire Ban Changes

Please see attached for important information regarding changes to the restrictions during Total Fire Bans.
  • These allow farmers more scope to continue operating with some routine farming activities.
  • They are usually announced through the media and on the FESA website or 1300 657 209.
  • Details of restrictions are also on the website.
Also please be reminded that Vehicle Movement and Harvest Bans may be imposed by Local Govt even if a Total Fire Ban has not been imposed, and are far more restrictive in what activity is allowed.
  • The ONLY notification of Local Govt Bans is on ABC Regional Radio (720 AM in our area) at 10:05, 13:05, 14:05.
  • The onus is on YOU to check if the conditions are such that a ban is likely and if you plan an activity which might contravene a ban.
  • As a guide Local Govt Vehicle Movement and Harvest Bans are likely on any day when the forecast fire danger is "VERY HIGH" or above.
  • For general information on Vehicle Movement and Harvest Bans see the City of Swan website.
  • This website does not have info on a ban in place on the day (although it really should)
  • Do not rely on me or anyone else advising by email although we will endeavour to do so if we happen to be near a computer.
