Great news on the sporting front. Gidge (the Mighty Bulldogs) have progressed straight to the Grand Final on Sunday 13th September. The game is to be played at Chidlow starting at 2pm.

West Gidge Fire Brigade · News and Fire Advice September 2009

The Royal Commission into the Victorian Bushfires has presented an interim report, making a considerable number of recommendations. Some of these are already in place in WA. What is concerning is that the interim report has not addressed what was arguably one of the major controllable factor in causing the fire intensity during Black Saturday, the very high fuel loads in the affected areas, particularly near buildings and other infrastructure. Fuel loads can be reduced and controlled, weather conditions cannot be.

Community Church · Roly Bain - Priest and Clown

We are having a special event on the 13th September 2009. We will have Roly Bain a UK priest and Clown holding a special service. It will start at 9.30am and everyone is welcome to stay after the service for coffee, cake and a chat.

Roly, the award-winning clown, has clowned all over the UK, across the USA, in Canada, Australia, Sweden, France, Belgium and Holland.. in churches, chapels and cathedrals, prisons, hospitals and schools, camps, conferences and clubs, halls, big tops and theatres! All his routines have some Christian basis, story or punchline.

This is an exciting event for Gidgie.

Junior Football Club · Presentation & AGM

All players and families including Auskick players are invited to the Gidgegannup Junior Football Club to the end of year presentation morning.

Presentations will be held at Percy Cullen Oval on 13th September 2009 from 10 am.

All club members will also be presented with their teamís photo. Players will be provided with a drink and an ice-cream.

Please bring a plate to add to the BBQ provided so we can share a wonderful lunch together.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the presentation and would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your hard work and support during the 2009 season.

Mundaring Police · New Phone Numbers

For your info, Mundaring Station has changed its phone numbers, see below for details. There is a diversion system in place for a couple of months and a recorded message advising new numbers etc after that.

The best number for the community to use is the 131 444 number. Mundaring police are around for 18+ hours a day, but not always sitting at the station waiting for calls, we are required to be out and about attending to jobs etc. The 131444 number guarantees a response and officers there can contact us via mobile phone, the radio or computer dispatch network.

Emergency Services Minister Rob Johnson will today launch the first Western Australian Bush Fire Summit, following Sundayís highly successful trial of the Australian-first emergency warning system, StateAlert. Mr Johnson said WA was leading the way with its preparation and response planning for bushfires, with the outcomes of the summit further developing work already started at a national and State level.

Police and Emergency Services Minister Rob Johnson today unveiled the first live trial of a new emergency warning system to boost public safety during emergencies such as bushfires. The provision of an emergency warning system to alert local communities was one of the key recommendations of the Victorian Royal Commissionís interim report into this yearís tragic bushfires, which was released last week.
