Gidgegannup History · Mill Race in Wooroloo Brook

Just downstream from Noble Falls there is a concrete affair that I assume is some sort of mill race. I have always liked going there when the water is running and just watching it.

I was wondering if anyone knew its history. Any input appreciated.

Warriors Football Club · Grand Final Victory for Gidge boys

For 7 former Gidgegannup junior footballers that made the decision to join the Darlington / Parkerville Warriors football club this year and play in the Swan District competitions under 13s division they have been rewarded with the best success possible. Having joined up with players from Parkerville and Darlington they all combined to form a team that totally dominated the 14 team competition.

On Sunday the 14th of Sept the boys took on Mazenod at Bassendean oval in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd. With black and red jackets filling the grandstand and all round the boundary the boys showed why they had been the dominant team all year. A score line of 8 goals 7 points 85 to Mazenod's 3 points was indicative of the effort that the boys had put in all year. Former Gidge player Jordy Yeoman took out the umpires award for best player and all the other Gidge boys contributed well.

Warriors 2008

This is the first time a team from Darlington / Parkerville has made or won a grand final and if this group of boys are able to stick together then further success is sure to happen.

Warriors 2008

Next year the club is aiming to field a team in all youth age groups 13s, 14s, 15s and 17s. To achieve this goal the club will need some players for the under 17s. Anybody who has a son who has played under 15s or the first year of under 17s this year and is interested in joining this young and enthusiastic club contact the president Ian Gordon on 0448 330 160. Clean Up Gidge · Second Clean-up Day

On Saturday the 23rd of August a number of concerned locals again did a rubbish pick up along Toodyay Rd near the village.

Pictured are two local boys, John and Dylan, who have both played football and basketball for Gidge. The boys gave up their Saturday morning to give some time back to the community that has assisted them over the years.

This was the second clean up Gidge day held recently and more will be conducted in the future. If anyone wishes to help out at another clean up day watch this site, the Gidgegram or the noticeboard in the village.

Bushfire Ready Action Group · Fire Season

The fire season is rapidly approaching and it is time to start preparing your property and yourselves. What will you do in the event of a bushfire? Will you stay? Or will you go? Each strategy has its own preparation requirements and your local fire brigade is available to assist with information and advice.

During September there will be two BRAG events to help you get ready for the Fire Season.

Friday 12th September - an information evening will be held at the Gidgegannup Fire Station starting at 7pm. If you want to know about hazard reduction, fire safety or what to do in the event of a bushfire, please come along.

Saturday, 20th September - for property owners wanting more specific advice for their own property we will be holding a BRAG Inspection Day. This involves a BRAG representative visiting your property to assist with preparation planning. To register your interest come along to the Information evening or send an email. Why not get together with a neighbour or two so that we can coordinate a street visit.

Do you have a Bush Fire Stay or Go Kit? Come along on the 12th or send an email to get one sent to you.
